The Cum By Yah IV battlefield tour 2025, brought together a diverse range of people from the Armed Forces community. Participants included active service personnel, army officer cadets, veterans, their families, UK-based Caribbean charities, local government officials and individuals connected to the British West India Regiments (BWIR). This unique intergenerational gathering created a special environment that encouraged meaningful conversations across age groups and among people with different levels of knowledge and experience.

The tour supported shared learning and collective remembrance allowing all attendees to engage with the rich heritage and history represented throughout the event.

The programme itinerary was thoughtfully designed to combine historical education, reflection, and celebration. Highlights included visits to SHAPE Headquarters in Mons, Canada Farm Cemetery, St George’s Church, the Menin Gate in Ypres, and Wimereux Cemetery in France. These visits offered participants deeper insights into the military and personal histories of Caribbean soldiers and their comrades. They also offered attendees the opportunity to connect with Caribbean military heritage, honour the graves of those who served in WWI and contemplate on the sacrifices made by generations of soldiers.
