Since its opening on March 24th 1929, St George’s Church in Ypres, Belgium has served as an important meeting point for many pilgrims over the decades and as memorial to the fallen.
The church is beautifully adorned with brass wall plaques, banners, stained glass windows, kneelers cushions and bells, all memorialising regiments and individuals who gave their lives fighting on the Western Front for the freedoms that we enjoy today. Visitors come from all over the world to pay their respects, to find their lost relatives, contemplate the cost of war and to find inspiration. Until October 5th 2024 there was no mention of the British West Indies Regiment’s contribution on the Western Front. In partnership with St Georges Memorial Church, we rectified this omission.
