Our fourth annual heritage tour to Belgium, commemorates the legacy of the British West Indies Regiment (BWIR). Highlights include a visit to Canada Farm Cemetery, a memorial service at St George’s Church in Ypres marking the BWIR’s 110th anniversary, the presentation of Regimental Colours, and the carrying of the “Flame of Remembrance” in the Mary (Seacole) lantern. The programme honours the service and sacrifice of the 15,600 West Indians who served in the Great War:
Day 1 – Friday, 24 October 2025
- Departure from the Army Reserve Centre, Tulse Hill, London.
- Travel to IBIS Hotel, Lomme, Lille, France Belgium Border.
- Evening: Three-course celebratory dinner, Belgium.
Day 2 – Saturday, 25 October 2025
- 10h00: Visits to Canada Farm Cemetery and Poperinge New Cemetery, Belgium.
- 15h00: Memorial Service at St George’s Church, Ypres, Belgium.
- 16h15: Reception and presentation by celebrated author Dr. Dominiek Dendooven.
- 20h00: Participation in ceremony at the Menin Gate.
- 21h00: Evening Dinner: Ypres, Belgium.
Day 3 – Sunday, 26 October 2025
- Visit to Wimereux Cemetery (resting place of Lt. Col. John McCrae, author of In Flanders Fields, and 20 West Indian soldiers).
- Return to the UK via Eurotunnel.
